Does the United States have a lot of job opportunities?

There are numerous reasons for employment-based immigration, but one of the biggest is simply that the United States is considered to be a country with a lot of opportunity. There are job openings and career opportunities here that people cannot find in their home countries. They immigrate to create a better life for themselves and their families, and they seek out new career paths that they have always wanted to follow.

But is this just a historical perspective, or is this really the way things are today? Does the United States have a lot of job opportunities?

The statistics show that it’s far more than a historical perspective. Just last year, in 2018, the United States hit 7.1 million job openings, which was a record.

This is a huge shift. After the recession that rocked the country back in 2008-2009 — and onward — unemployment rose dramatically. Qualified workers could not find jobs. It was harder than ever for anyone, immigrant or otherwise, to land a job.

Things definitely have turned around since then. That’s important for immigrants to note, as record levels of job openings impact more than just domestic workers. Those coming to the United States from other countries also have more opportunities and more choices than they ever had before.

Of course, the process to get there is a bit different if you are an immigrant, and there are some crucial steps you will need to take if you want to take advantage of this job market. Make sure you know exactly what is expected of you and how to proceed.
